About Underwater Depot
Underwater Depot has been a fixture on Ventura Boulevard in the San Fernando Valley for over 50 years.
The store was originally called Ben's Tropical Fish, named after Ben the first owner. Ben sold the store to one of his employees in the late 80's. The new owner remodeled the store and changed the name to Underwater Depot. He in turn sold the store to two of his managers in 1998. The current owners, Chris Bernie and Marc Grover have over 30 years of experience in the aquarium industry collectively.
We are experts in saltwater, freshwater and reef keeping techniques. The Underwater Depot team can help you with any questions you may have, from fish compatibility to aquarium decorating to complex system design. We have the answers for you.
All of our salt water specimens are hand selected for our clients. We travel to wholesale distributors multiple times a week to make these selections. We do not transship. If we don't get to see it, we don't buy it. This assures us the highest quality salt water specimens for our clientele. We only shop at reputable wholesalers. We provide hand and net caught specimens as well as some tank-raised ones. We will be providing more tank-raised specimens as they become available.
We also hand select some of our freshwater specimens. The rest get delivered to us from highly reputable wholesalers. We get deliveries of freshwater specimens, live plants, live and frozen foods virtually every day of the week. There is always something new for you at Underwater Depot.
